Are there EU regulations regarding decimal rounding for financial transactions? How many decimal places are necessary when making calculations of financial data? Does the EU, or any other regulatory body, have regulations on this? I am doing financial reporting regarding sales tax etc where the taxation figures end in a lot of decimal places. If I just round up to the nearest cent, there will be hundreds of euros difference at the end of the year. I am currently using 8 decimals which will avoid this problem, but I want to know if there are any official guidelines.
Is there a website that offers financial ratios and includes the calculation used to determine the ratio? I find a lot of websites just list the ratio without using the actual numbers from the 10K filings that are used to compute the ratio. Is there a website that shows the actual calculation? I am so confused when I compute my own ratios because they are so far removed from industry averages.

Future Value of 401K: What is the financial calculation/equation? Hi. I'm trying to figure out the future value of my 401k which is easy if I have zero dollars in it. But I can't figure out (yet) how to calculate the future value of it when I begin with a lump sum of $25,000 and add $15,500 to it for the next 25 years. Is there anyone who knows this calculation/equation and can show it to me, please? Here are the numbers using a financial calculator: N = 25 (years) I/Y = 15% PV = (-)25,000 (this will be year 1) plus an additional $15,500 each year FV = ?? I looked thru my financial books but couldn't locate an example that was close enough to teach me. Thanks in advance! Terry Aecruiser, Thanks for the feedback. I had some difficulty working the calculation; my fault. I was confused on the "add 25,000..." portion; could you simplify that step for me? Thanks.

When hiring a freelance web developer, what skills (languages) are most important? Somewhat similar in complexity and tasks to ebay (i.e. registering users, user developed listings, structured user interactions, financial calculations). Assuming such a system could be built in various languages, when writing a job description, should I specify what skills I am looking for and, if so, what would they be?

Any hope for someone in a financial situation like this? I am a high school senior with decent stats (3.85 GPA/31 ACT/) with a very strong high school curriculum and excellent extracurriculars. However, I am in an unusual financial situation where my parents make too much money for me to qualify for need-based aid, but due to unusual circumstances, will be unable to help pay for college. I know most colleges' financial aid calculations pretty much eliminate me from receiving any sort of need-based aid like I said. Are there any colleges that might cut me some slack because of my situation who do not use simply use a set of formulae to determine aid? Also, what are some school that might give me a full ride? Thanks for the help!

Question about Intangible Assets calculation in financial accounting? Dunford estimated it would have an estimated useful life of 10 years, and calculates amortization on a monthly basis. On December 31, 2008, Dunford concluded a successful legal defense of the patent. Costs and fees related to the defense were $22,000. What value should Dunford show for the patent on its December 31 balance sheet for 2008? Thanks for the help!

Can a person who suffers from dyslexia do complex math? I have dyslexia, just recently found out and is a bit sad but at least now I know why I am the way I am. It's research time. =D I was reading an article about dyslexia and had came across a phrase that says people with dyslexia can not follow sequence and hence can not do long calculations: "Learning any task that has a series of steps which must be completed in a specific order can be difficult. That's because you must memorize the sequence of steps, and often, there is no logic in the sequence." "Doing long division: to successfully complete a long division problem, you must do a series of five steps, in exactly the right sequence, over and over again" I know it's long, but thanks for reading. My question is… do you have dyslexia? And if so, are you any good at math? I mean advance calculations that have to do with highly complex calculations such as predictions and risk management in the financial markets.
BA II Plus Financial Calculator: how to clear the NPV/CF Memory ? This is a bit annoying: Whenever I calculate the NPV of a stream of uneven Cash Flows it stays stuck in the memory until I overwrite it for the next calculation. Barrack Obama is suggesting that the financial aid process is more difficult for non-whites and non-English? speaking students, that the calculations are too complicated. I find that offensive. Does anyone else agree? Are we all not equal in this country, why must he divide us into groups? From his website, in regards to finanical aid: "A recent study by Susan Dynarski and Judith Scott-Clayton found that the costs of complexity in our financial aid processes fall most heavily on low-income, non-white and non-English speaking youth. Barrack Obama will simplify the financial aid process by eliminating the FAFSA and its complicated calculations altogether." http://www.barackobama.com/issues/pdf/CollegeAffordabilityFactSheet.pdf Numero, I am sorry I disagree, explain how it is easier? Everyone has equal access to the FAFSA forms. May I also add, no whites are eligible for UNCF. Dave, you are absolutely correct, and with the ability to fill the form online, it is quite simple. I think he really takes victimhood to an extreme, he likes to box people in neat little groups, I think it is offensive because he is saying certain people are not capable. I would be offended if I were in those groups.
How can I calculate how much money I save if I shorten my "Days Sales Outstanding" by one day? I have calculated my DSO, and now I'm trying to figure out how much I can save by reducing my DSO by one day. For example, if my DSO is 49 days, how much is it worth if I get it down to 48 days, 47 days, etc? I researched my financial text books, and even done some online research, and nobody seems to have this kind of calculation. Is it something that can be set up on Excel?

How do I use the residual value when calculating the project’s NPV? This is the question which I am working out: Investment: $1.8 million on a new biscuit making machine in order to expand the company´s market share. The financial details are as follows: Initial outlay : $1.8 million Life : 10 years Net cash flow : Years 1 to 6 +$500 000 per year Years 7 to 10 + $300 000 per year Residual value : $0.5 million The company uses straight-line depreciation and has a target rate of returns, both ARR and NPV, of 18%, and a payback criterion of 5 years. My questions are: 1- What discont rate should I take to find the present value of the cash flows? 2- Do I need to add the residual value to the cash flows in oder to find the present value of the cashs flows? Or do I need the residual value for the calculation of the machine's depreciations? Please I want to find the right answer for this question but can t make because of the residual value and not sure if the discount rate is 18%.
Degree of financial leverage? Northwestern Savings and Loan has a current capital structure consisting of $250,000 of 16% (annual interest) debt and 2,000 shares of common stock. The firm pays taxes at the rate of 40%. a. Using EBIT values of $80,000 and $120,000, determine the associated earnings per share (EPS). b. Using $80,000 of EBIT as a base, calculate the degree of financial leverage (DFL). c. Rework parts a and b assuming that the firm has $100,000 of 16% (annual interest) debt and 3,000 shares of common stock. Any help with this would be highly appreciated. Anyone ever heard of a Mega 2000 lottery? Accompanying letter instructs me to forward 95% (my calculation from actual $$ amounts) of it to a lady in at Express Financial Group in London, England and to claim my prize within a week. This is an actual VERY real looking check that is Pay to the Order of ONLY ME! I looked up the Mega 2000 lottery online and found an almost duplicate letter, almost. Mine and the one online do have significant differences, the main one being the company claiming to a false affiliation with the Mega 2000. My letter does not reference to that company at all. And also the evelope has a first class stamp from Canada.

Question to graphic designers about an area of your work...? Can this happen : A client gives you a sum of money, only briefly explaining what the design is supposed to be about giving you all the rest authority to decide on the amount of pages, type of paper, use of colours, layout, amount of photographs/illustrations etc. So it would be YOU who would have to do the calculation and see what could be affordable on that sum of money. Therefore you will be playing he role of both, the designer and 'financial manager' of the design. Can that sort of thing happen ? Does it happen often ?? Or perhaps it happens all the time ???

Does it make sense for my excuse on getting a low GPA performance? hi there! I need to write a leter explaining the cause of my low GPA performance in reference to apply to universities for further study. I have come up with several approaches but none of them is unbeatable. For eg. got sick in middle of exams but that need doctor's proof; financial crisis that I need to work parttime, but can be track down by my student loan application that I had declared as zero income in the year. So, all I could think of is giving the real reason to universities. But it looks way TOO stupid! Could anyone help me to generate any ideas or try to help revise my letter? THANKS!! My draft: I was unaware that dropping and failing grades would still be incorporated into the GPA calculation since I was advise that the failing would be cleared from the records when we apply to universities. I have taken some courses again , worked hard to complete them, and have achieved better grades. Please take note of the effort that I have made to improve my overall peformance. Actually I am transfering from community college to university, not from high school. The real reason was that I really didn't know they'd accumlate all the grades including the failing grades as well. But telling the truth will make me look stupid. So....or how to revise the excuse to make it sound better?
How to deal with deferred taxes and minority interest in calculation of unlevered free cash flow? Hi all, I am facing a valuation problem. On this financial statement, Net Income = Operating Income - Reorganization Expense - Amortization of goodwill - Net Interest Expense - Performance Plan Expenses - Equity in net income in unconsolidated subsidiaries - Income taxes - Minority Interest. I know how to deal with (4) and (5). But I don't know how to deal with (1), (2) and (3) when calculating the unlevered free cash flow, starting from the net income? Also, do I remove the "net interest expense" and "deferred taxes" from "net income" and start from the resultant "net income" for calculate the unlevered free cash flow, since it should be "unlevered"?
