How much should financial planners get paid? If they move your money into a IRA and set up some other plans? I have been chatting with a financial planner. He has talked to me about different option for IRA and life insurance. The IRA is through a company I think called Allianz and he said that anytime you put money in there plan you get a 4% bonus. I think the then is taking 1% of that has commission but I could be wrong. I have to keep my money in this IRA for 10 years but it is promised to never go down over those ten years from the highest $ amount. He also discussed different types of insurane plans.. Do stock brokers/financial planners earn more commission when they sell a certain stock? If one goes to see a financial planner/stock broker that is commision based, is there a push to sell one particular stock? For example, let's say that I am interested in buying stock in General Mills, but Hershey has a higher commision structure for the broker, so they would push Hershey instead. The companies listed are just hypothetical, and the first that came into my head, since I am hungry.
Any other financial planners finding it rough right now? It seems as over the last two weeks our entire firm has had trouble signing any new IRA's or TSA's. Is it just us or is anyone else feeling a pinch? Just to let you know Jerry, we actually run an ethical firm. And believe it or not we don't charge our clients ANYTHING on the front end, we make our profits on the back. I'm sorry that you stumble around life carrying the baggage from every bad experience you've ever had. Good luck growing up.
